1972 Burma 1 Kyat Banknote P-56 General Aung San Spinning Wheel Paper Money

Issued by the Union of Burma Bank and introduced in 1972, this official 1 Kyat legal tender paper currency note is cataloged in the Standard Catalog of World Paper Money as Pick #P-56 (Banknote Book B1006). The obverse is anchored by an engraved portrait of General Aung San, the architect of Burmese independence and national founding father, depicted in military uniform and peaked service cap. The face composition integrates dual serial numbering in red Western and Burmese typography, traditional Burmese script denomination calligraphy, and intricate geometric background guilloche rosettes.

The reverse highlights traditional domestic industry and craftsmanship, showcasing an engraved depiction of a wooden hand-operated yarn spinning wheel framed by classical Burmese decorative borders and floral scrollwork. Built-in security architecture across this historical issue includes high-detail intaglio plate line relief, anti-copy geometric lathework, micro-printed central bank typography, and an electrotype watermark field featuring the profile of General Aung San.
