1921-D Morgan Silver Dollar Denver Mint

This 1921-D Morgan Silver Dollar is a significant historical anomaly, being the only Morgan dollar ever struck at the Denver Mint. While the series ran from 1878 to 1904, the Denver facility did not begin coinage operations until 1906; consequently, when the Morgan design was briefly resurrected in 1921 to satisfy the Pittman Act, Denver finally received its opportunity to strike this iconic profile. The "D" mint mark is located on the reverse, centered above the "DO" in DOLLAR. Denver strikes from 1921 are often noted for having a somewhat different luster profile than Philadelphia issues, frequently appearing with a satiny or "micro-granular" surface. As the only Denver-stamped Morgan in history, this coin is a mandatory inclusion for any complete mint-mark set. Please examine the high-resolution photos for strike quality, as 1921 dies were re-engraved in lower relief than the pre-1904 originals.
