1922-P Peace Silver Dollar Philadelphia Mint

This 1922-P Peace Silver Dollar is a cornerstone of American numismatic history, representing the first full production year of the series following the high-relief experiments of 1921. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint (no mint mark), this coin features Anthony de Francisci’s iconic design, created to commemorate the restoration of peace following World War I. The 1922 issue is historically significant as the highest mintage in the entire series (51.7 million units), a result of the Pittman Act's mandate to replace silver melted during the war. While common in circulated grades, Philadelphia strikes are noted for having superior luster and strike quality compared to their branch-mint counterparts. This specimen features Lady Liberty’s serene profile and the symbolic eagle perched atop a rock, gazing toward the dawn. Please see the high-resolution photos for detail on the hair lines and eagle's feathers.
