Turkey 5 Lira Banknote 2009 Atatürk Aydın Sayılı P-222 Currency Note

Issued by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (Türkiye Cumhuriyet Merkez Bankası) and produced by the Banknote Printing Plant (Banknot Matbaası), this legal tender 5 Turkish Lira banknote (Beş Türk Lirası) is part of the E9 Emission Group series authorized under Law No. 1211. Cataloged internationally as Pick #222 (P-222), the obverse honors Mustafa Kemal Atatürk (1881–1938), the founding father and first president of the Republic of Turkey, depicted in a classic three-quarter portrait alongside the crescent and star motif, holographic security strip, and dual authorized facsimile signatures. The reverse commemorates renowned Turkish historian of science Ordinaryüs Prof. Dr. Aydın Sayılı (1913–1993), showcasing his engraved portrait alongside scientific diagrams representing the solar system, atomic orbital structures, and a double-helix DNA strand. Incorporating advanced microprinting, localized watermarking, and iridescent security bands, this introductory denomination serves as a staple type note for collections focusing on modern European and Middle Eastern currency, scientific heritage numismatics, and Eurasian central bank emissions.
