1976 China Shanxi Province 1 Liang (0.1 Jin) Food Grain Ration Coupon

This official 1976 Shanxi Province food and grain ration coupon (Liangpiao) represents historical planned-economy scrip issued by the Food Department of Shanxi Province in the People's Republic of China during the late Cultural Revolution era. Denominated at 1 Shi Liang (壹市两), equivalent to 0.1 Shi Jin (50 grams of grain), the face features fine green security lathework, bold denomination typography, and an engraved agrarian vignette depicting a tractor in an agricultural cultivation scene emblematic of mid-1970s rural modernization initiatives. The reverse displays official usage regulations governing grain disbursement framed within ornamental green geometric scrollwork, positioned over a protective pink guilloche underprint bearing an administrative authentication seal. These provincial food vouchers functioned as essential regulated tender alongside circulating renminbi banknotes to manage food grain distribution prior to market liberalization reforms.
