1921 Morgan Silver Dollar (Philadelphia)
The 1921 Morgan Silver Dollar is a unique piece of American history, representing the final year of the iconic Morgan design before it was replaced by the Peace Dollar. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this coin features no mint mark (located on the reverse, just above the "DOLLAR" inscription).
Produced under the Pittman Act of 1918, which required the melting and recoining of millions of silver dollars, the 1921 Philadelphia issue is the most common date in the entire Morgan series, with a massive mintage of over 44 million. Because these coins were struck using newly engraved dies (the original 19th-century dies having been destroyed), the 1921 issue has a distinct, slightly flatter appearance compared to earlier years. It remains a staple for collectors due to its 90% silver content and its status as the "Last of the Morgans."
