This lot features two mid-century United States banknotes, highlighting the distinct "Red and Blue" era of American small-size currency.
$2 Red Seal United States Note (Series 1953A): Serial A56436501A.
Why It’s Special: This note features the signatures of Priest and Anderson. The 1953A series is part of the first generation of $2 bills to feature the Treasury seal on the right side, a design choice intended to standardize the look of all U.S. denominations.
$1 Silver Certificate Blue Seal (Series 1957): Serial Q64544409A.
Why It’s Special: This is the "plain" 1957 series, notable for being the first series of $1 Silver Certificates to bear the motto "In God We Trust" on the reverse. It was also the first series produced using the high-speed rotary sheet-fed intaglio presses, which changed the look and feel of the paper compared to earlier 1935 issues.
